Benjamin Luke “Ben” Cousins (born June 30, 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer, best known for his 270-game career with West Coast and Richmond in the Australian Football League. He is the son of Bryan Cousins, who played 238 games for Perth and 67 for Geelong during his professional career. Ben Cousins made his debut for West Coast in 1996 in round 4 and had instant impact. He became permanent of the team after that. He is also remembered for several off-field activities but more so than his on-field accomplishments.
Greatest Sporting Achievements
Cousins received a Brownlow Medal, an MVP award, six All-Australian caps, captaincy and premiership medallion during his professional playing career. He was Western Australian Sports Star of the Year in 2005, Herald Sun Player of the Year the same year and a West Coast Eagles Life Membership Inductee in 2003.
