Chile made its maiden appearance at the Winter Olympic Games in 1948 in St. Moritz, Switzerland and has participated in the majority of Winter Games from then on. The nation has missed just two editions of the Winter Olympic Games: 1932 Sapporo Winter Olympic Games and the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Games.
Even though Chile has won many Summer Olympics medals, the South American nation is still seeking its first-ever medal at the Winter Games.
Chile has sent 50 athletes that competed in alpine skiing, biathlon, freestyle skiing, and cross-country skiing at the Winter Games from 1948 up to 2014.
