It might be a long shot, but there has been a push for tenpin bowling to be included in the Olympic Games program. Tenpin bowling was one of 12 sports which was initially considered for inclusion in the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games in voting in 2013, but it did not survive the first cut. Another vote in June 2015 found bowling short listed again with another seven sports, but again it was droppped from the list.
This popular world sport has had links to the Olympic Games before. Tenpin bowling was an official demonstration sport at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
The sport was also very close to being part of the Olympics in 1936, when an international tournament was held in Berlin, Germany around the same time as the Olympics.
Bowling is part of some other major international events. Bowling has been an event in the Special Olympics since 1975, is part of the deaflympics and was on the Commonwealth Games program in 1998.
