Boliva at the Olympics
Bolivia first showed up in the Summer Games when they sent a single-athlete delegation to the 1936 Summer Olympics which was held in Berlin, Germany. After this, they missed the next four Summer Games returning only in 1964 Tokyo Summer Games with yet another one-man show.
From this point on, they had an almost perfect attendance to the Summer Olympics except when they participated in the American-led boycott of the 1980 Olympics held in Moscow, Russia. Despite having an almost perfect attendance, Bolivia is yet to garner a single Olympic medal but their spirits are high.
Bolivia has almost the same thing going for the Winter Games. They first participated in the Winter Games by sending skier René Farwig to represent them in the 1956 Winter Olympics held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. Then then again missed five Winter Games (1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976) then came back in 1980 by sending three skiers (Billy Farwig, Scott Sánchez and Victor Hugo Ascarrunz) to represent them in three alpine skiing events in Lake Placid, USA. Bolivia attended the 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 Winter Games and from that point on, they have never sent any more athletes. Like in the Summer Games, they have never received any Olympic honor in the Winter Games.
