Bermuda at the Olympics
Bermuda established their National Olympic Committee in 1935 and joined the Summer Games for the first time in 1936 Summer Games which was held in Berlin, Germany. From that point on, they have had an almost perfect attendance except when they chose to participate in the US-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Games in Moscow, Russia.
However Bermuda had to wait four decades before they got their first-ever Olympic medal. In 1976, boxer Clarence Hill became the first Bermudan athlete to win an Olympic medal. He took the bronze medal in the men's heavyweight division in Montreal, Canada. This was historic for Bermuda for two reasons. One is it being the first Olympic medal they received and second is, that year, they became the least populated country (population at that time was 53,500) to ever produce an Olympic medalist (San Marino took that title off them in 2021).
In Tokyo 2020, Bermuda won their first-ever Olympic gold medal, when triathlete Flora Duffy won the women's event. They are now the least populated country to win a gold medal.
Bermuda is also one of the few nations of its size to ever participate at the Winter Olympics. They have a perfect attendance to the Winter Games since they first participated in 1992. They are yet to take home a single medal from the Winter Games, not surprising as they only managed to send one athlete in all of their Winter Games' attendance.
