Belgium has a flawless attendance at the Winter Olympic Games since joining the inaugural 1924 Winter Games in Chamonix France.
The tiny nation has won medals in three winter sports; figure skating, bobsleigh and speed skating. The nation’s first medal was won by its team in four (or 5) man bobsleigh, which placed third at the 1924 Winter Games.
The nation’s first gold was won by the tandem of Micheline Lannoy and Pierre Baugniet who won the pairs event in the figure skating in the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympic Games in Switzerland. Moreover, the four-man bobsleigh added a silver medal to help Belgium snatched 9th position in the medal table, which is its best in terms of the most number of medals won.
