The German unusual sport of beer crate running, known as Kastenlauf, is popular in the German-speaking countries of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The race is between teams of two, who are required to carry a crate of beer over a course of about 10km. The crate of beer must be consumed before the team crosses the finish line.
My first thought was whether it would be better to drink all the beer early on in the race to save carrying the heavy crate the whole way, or to carry it while sober and drink the beer when you near the finish line. I am sure many discussions have been had about this.
