This race is 217 km from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, and travels though the hottest place in the US. This very tough event is run entirely on hot asphalt and gravel at temperatures above 38 degrees C (100 degrees F).

About 80 people take part in the event each year, bit not-surprisingly about a third don't finish the race.
