Antigua and Barbuda are two small territories in the Caribbean Sea. It has a very rich culture with and equally rich history. Antigua and Barbuda compete as part of the Commonwealth games.
Antigua and Barbuda was largely influenced by the European sports and as a matter of fact, the most popular sport is cricket. It is almost a religion for the inhabitants of Antigua and Barbuda. The players otherwise play for domestic (Leeward Islands cricket team) and international (West Indies cricket) matches.
Antigua hosted the 2007 Cricket World Cup from 11 March to 28 April. Antiguan Viv Richards made history by scoring the fastest Test Century and so did Brian Lara scoring the World Test Record twice in the Antigua Recreation Ground.
Athletics are traditionally where Antiguans excel but they also are very into soccer. The Antiguan national football team joined the World Cup in 1974 and 1986 onwards. The Antigua Barracuda FC was formed in 2011 and plays in the USL Pro in the United States. In 2012, the Antiguan team was able to get out of its preliminary group to join the 2014 World Cup. Athletics is also naturally very popular with names like Heather Samuel and Sonia Williams representing the country in the Olympic Games.

- The former Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Lester Bryant Bird, was a talented athlete in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a high-jump star on the American college circuit, and also won a bronze medal at the 1959 Pan-American Games.
