The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, the eighth event, was held in South Africa. Australia emerged as champions, defeating South Africa in the final, and securing their sixth title.
The tournament featured ten teams, divided into two groups of five. Each team played the others in their group in a round-robin format
The groups were as follows:
- Group 1: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh
- Group 2: India, England, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland
The top two teams from each group advanced to the semi-finals. In the first semi, Australia beat India 5 runs. In the second semi-final, South Africa defeated England by 6 runs.
The final between defending champions Australia and host country South Africa was played at Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town. Australia made 156/6 off their 20 overs, south Africa reached 137/6 in reply.
