The Australian team was predicted to place sixth on the medal tally at the Tokyo Olympics. It was a very successful Games, and it matched the predictions with one of the most successful Games ever (in terms of medals won). Australia won 17 gold medals, with a total of 46 medals

- Emma McKeon won four gold and three bronze medals in Tokyo, the most by any athlete, and is tied for the most medals won in a single Olympics by a woman.
