The Bears dominated the game, with their legendary defense leading the way, forcing five turnovers and scoring two touchdowns. Running back Walter Payton rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown to become the game's leading rusher. Quarterback Jim McMahon also had a strong performance, throwing for 256 yards and one touchdown. This was the first Super Bowl win for the Chicago Bears.
